Choose the API key type that fits your environment.

API key types

When creating an API key in the Dashboard, choose Development or Production. Each type has a different requests-per-minute (RPM) limit.

Key type	RPM limit	Use case
Development	50	Local development and testing
Production	300	Production applications

When you reach the limit

The API returns 429 with rate_limit_exceeded. Wait for the duration in the Retry-After header before retrying.
